Sprouts Farmers Market has set Friday, September 11 as opening day for its Washington Township store at 280 Egg Harbor Road, near Hurffville-Grenloch Road in the Sewell section. The 23,000 square foot store uses the chain's latest prototype, the same design as its West Deptford location. Its other South Jersey stores are in Marlton, Haddon Township and West Deptford.

Opening weekend runs Friday through Sunday, with a ribbon cutting Friday at 6:45 a.m., doors at 7, and giveaways for early shoppers.

The store sits beside an existing shopping center with Dollar Tree, Rita's Italian Ice, TD Bank and Palmisano's Pizza, and a drive connection between the two centers is planned. The main entrance comes off the signalized intersection of Egg Harbor Road and Salina Road, where the existing light is being upgraded for direct access. Wonder, the multi-restaurant delivery and pickup food hall, has leased the retail space on the left side of the same project.

26 jobs are posted so far, from entry level through department management. 42Freeway first reported the project in March 2023; approvals took longer than expected because Gloucester County added requirements for roadway access and stormwater management.

Our take

Nearby stores are one of the first things buyers ask about when they compare towns, and this one adds a shorter errand and 26 jobs. If you own in Washington Township and are thinking about listing, it is one more thing working for you.
