Sprouts opens in Sewell

Sprouts Farmers Market has set Sept. 11 as the opening day for its store at 280 Egg Harbor Road, in the Sewell section of Washington Township. The store runs 23,000 square feet and is the chain's sixth in New Jersey. The date moved: an August opening had been planned before, and Sprouts says it will share grand-opening details closer to the day.

The store went up next to the Harbor Place shopping center, a 35,000 square foot plaza whose tenants include TD Bank, Post Net, Rita's Water Ice and Dollar Tree. That puts a full grocery run and the existing errands on the same corner of Egg Harbor Road.

Sprouts is filling 91 full and part-time positions before the doors open. The postings cover clerks across the deli, grocery, meat and seafood, bakery and vitamins departments, along with cashiers, receivers, administrative and scan coordinators, and department and assistant department managers.

The chain is based in Phoenix, was founded in 2002, and runs more than 480 stores across 25 states, selling natural and organic groceries alongside fresh produce, meat, seafood, baked goods and household goods. Its other New Jersey stores include Marlton, Aberdeen, Woodbury and Woodbridge.
