Hainesport Township covers about 6.5 square miles of land and counted 6,035 residents in the 2020 Census. It was incorporated from Lumberton Township by an act of the Legislature on March 12, 1924.

• Getting around

  • An iron foundry, the Columbian Iron Works, opened in 1852, and the Pennsylvania Railroad built a station here in 1867.

• Landmarks

  • Long Bridge Park and the Hainesport section of Rancocas State Park, with more than 8 miles of blazed trails and canoe and fishing access, are in the township.

• Around town

  • The village was first called Long Bridge.
  • It was renamed for the Haines family: Richard and Margaret Haines came from England in 1682, and their son Joseph bought the tract that included the village.
  • The township borders Westampton, Mount Laurel, Lumberton and Mount Holly.

• Schools

  • The Hainesport Township School District runs Hainesport Township School, pre-K through grade 8.
  • High school students attend Rancocas Valley Regional High School, grades 9 to 12, which serves Eastampton, Hainesport, Lumberton, Mount Holly and Westampton.
