The new ShopRite of Galloway at 501 East Jimmie Leeds Road was approved in 2020. Land clearing began last summer, and the 86,000 square foot main structure is now standing and mostly enclosed. It replaces the 55,040 square foot ShopRite about a block away, at Jimmie Leeds Road and South Pitney Road, which opened in October 2007 in a converted Stop & Shop.
The plan includes a parking lot of more than 500 spaces, about 100 more than the township code requires, and a new traffic signal at the shopping center's main entrance. Two retail pads are approved out front; one is still open and no tenants have been announced. The store is owned by Village Super Market, which runs about 30 ShopRite locations.
AtlantiCare has administrative approval to convert the current store building into medical offices, including an urgent care center, once the supermarket moves.

Our take
A bigger supermarket and a planned urgent care on the same road are daily conveniences buyers weigh when they pick a town. If you own in Galloway, that helps when your home is compared with one a town over.
