for Galloway Township
Six years after approval, a new 86,000 square foot ShopRite on Jimmie Leeds Road was standing and mostly enclosed by early August, and AtlantiCare has approval to turn the old store into medical offices.
- A new 86,000 square foot ShopRite on Jimmie Leeds Road, replacing the 55,040 square foot store about a block away
- Approved back in 2020. Land clearing began last summer, and the main building is now standing and mostly enclosed
Reported by 42Freeway. Summary in our words.
The new ShopRite of Galloway at 501 East Jimmie Leeds Road was approved in 2020. Land clearing began in the summer of 2025, and by early August 2026 the 86,000 square foot main structure was standing and mostly enclosed. It replaces the 55,040 square foot ShopRite about a block away, at Jimmie Leeds Road and South Pitney Road, which opened in October 2007 in a converted Stop & Shop.
The plan includes a parking lot of more than 500 spaces, about 100 more than the township code requires. Two store sites are approved out front, and one of them is still open. The store is owned by Village Super Market, which runs about 30 ShopRite locations.
AtlantiCare has administrative approval to convert the current store building into medical offices, including an urgent care center, once the supermarket moves.
