Parks and a historic farm
Voorhees Township bought the historic 140-acre Stafford Farm in 2004 with the county and the state. Half of the property is preserved as open space, with the Stafford stagecoach walking trail and a disc golf course. Connolly Park, on Centennial Boulevard, covers 49 acres, with two dog runs, a lighted half-mile walking track, a cricket pitch, a playground and a picnic pavilion.
Named for Governor Foster Voorhees
Voorhees is named for Foster McGowan Voorhees, the New Jersey governor who approved its split from Waterford Township in 1899. Route 561, the Haddonfield-Berlin Road, began as a path to the coast and later became the Long-A-Coming stagecoach road.
